Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the passing-out parade ceremony for the first batch of 60,244 constables recruited under the Civil Police Direct Recruitment 2025 programme.
The event was held in Lucknow, where the Chief Minister reviewed the parade and presented awards to constables who performed exceptionally during their training. The ceremony marked the completion of training for one of the largest batches of police recruits in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Yogi Adityanath commended the dedication, discipline and preparedness demonstrated by the recruits, particularly highlighting the performance of women constables. He noted that discipline and teamwork are fundamental strengths of any uniformed force.
He said that rigorous training plays a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency, adding that greater effort during training reduces risks during active service. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the newly inducted personnel would uphold the traditions of the Uttar Pradesh Police with integrity and commitment.
Emphasising the role of law enforcement, he stated that the law should be firm in dealing with criminals while remaining sensitive towards citizens. He encouraged the recruits to perform their duties with honesty and a strong sense of responsibility.
The passing-out parade was conducted simultaneously across multiple locations in the state, including 10 police training institutions, police lines in 73 districts, 29 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalions, and 112 recruit training centres.
The recruitment process for the batch began earlier in 2025. On June 15, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the selected candidates at the Defence Expo Ground in Lucknow. Training for the recruits commenced on July 21.
During his address, the Chief Minister also referred to improvements made in police infrastructure over recent years. He said that prior to 2017, police barracks were often in poor condition, but significant upgrades have since been carried out. According to him, modern residential and barrack facilities have been developed in 55 districts.
He added that training systems have also been modernised, with the introduction of advanced programmes and digital platforms. Initiatives such as the UP Police Training Portal and Smart Physical Training (PT) programme have been implemented to enhance training quality.
The Chief Minister further said that outdated equipment has been replaced with modern firearms, including INSAS and SLR rifles, improving operational readiness.
Highlighting broader reforms, he stated that more than 2.18 lakh police personnel have been recruited in the state, while over one lakh have received promotions. He also mentioned specialised training initiatives, including programmes for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) aligned with national and international standards.
In addition, cyber police stations have been established across all 75 districts, with personnel receiving specialised training to tackle cybercrime. The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences in Lucknow has also been set up to strengthen scientific investigation capabilities.
Yogi Adityanath said the police force has evolved into a modern and efficient system focused on public safety. He added that law and order conditions have improved, with a focus on curbing crime and maintaining public confidence.
