BHOPAL: Highlighting the rich cultural and historical tapestry of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presided over a special Council of Ministers meeting in Jagdishpur on Sunday. Dedicated to the “spirit of equality and justice,” the meeting served as a tribute to the region’s long history of struggle and its shared legacy under the Gond dynasty, as well as Rajput and Scindia rule.
Prior to the cabinet meeting, which commenced with the recitation of Vande Mataram, Dr. Yadav officially inaugurated the newly renovated Jagdishpur Fort. The extensive restoration project was completed at a cost of ₹10 crore. To mark the occasion, a special documentary film focusing on the fort’s glorious history and the state government’s conservation efforts was screened for the attendees.
A Tradition of Honoring Great Personalities
Addressing the ministers, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government has established a tradition of holding special cabinet meetings at locations deeply associated with great historical figures who championed valor, good governance, and public welfare.
He recalled previous milestone meetings held outside the state capital, including:
- Jabalpur: Dedicated to the bravery of Veerangana Rani Durgavati.
- Singrampur (Damoh) & Maheshwar: Honoring Devi Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, followed by a meeting at the Indore Rajwada for her 300th birth anniversary.
- Pachmarhi: Dedicated to the valor of Raja Bhabhut Singh.
- Khajuraho: Held at the Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Center.
- Nagalwadi (Barwani): Remembering tribal hero Krantisurya Tantya Mama at the Bhilat Baba shrine.
Sleemanabad Water Tunnel to Launch Soon
Shifting focus to infrastructure and agriculture, Dr. Yadav congratulated the citizens of the state on the impending completion of the Sleemanabad Water Tunnel.
The 12-kilometer-long tunnel is slated for inauguration within the next two to three months. It is designed to provide critical drinking water to Katni city and irrigation facilities across more than 2.5 lakh hectares of agricultural land, directly benefiting the districts of Rewa, Satna, Maihar, Panna, and Katni.
In line with the ongoing ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh’ (Farmers’ Welfare Year), the Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s Balram Krishi Mahotsav, which is actively encouraging farmers to adopt organic farming, modern agricultural machinery, crop diversification, and reduced pesticide usage.
₹20,000 Crore Investment Proposals at Bharat Tex 2026
On the industrial front, Dr. Yadav announced the state’s highly successful participation in the recent Bharat Tex 2026 event held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh successfully secured investment proposals worth approximately ₹20,000 crore from various industrialists and investors.
These investments are projected to generate direct employment for around 12,000 people. During the event, investors also lauded the structural success of the state’s inaugural Global Investors Summit (GIS 2025) held in Bhopal.
Monsoon Deficit Leaves 23 Districts Below Normal
Concluding the briefing with a critical weather update, the Chief Minister noted that Madhya Pradesh is currently experiencing an overall low-rainfall situation.
According to the latest data:
- Above Normal (8 Districts): Indore, Burhanpur, Neemuch, Dewas, Agar-Malwa, Bhind, Sehore, and Harda.
- Normal (23 Districts).
- Below Normal (23 Districts): With Alirajpur district currently categorized as severely rain-deficient.
