Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jind in Haryana on July 17 will mark an important phase in the state’s development, with the launch and inauguration of several major projects, including the flagging off of India’s first hydrogen-powered train, Haryana Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma said on Tuesday.

According to Sharma, the hydrogen-powered train, which will operate on the Jind-Gohana-Sonipat route, represents a major milestone for Haryana and reflects the country’s growing focus on environmentally friendly and modern modes of transportation. He described the project as more than a railway initiative, saying it symbolizes India’s commitment to clean energy, green technology and environmental conservation.

The minister said the launch of the hydrogen train would further strengthen Haryana’s position as an emerging hydrogen hub.

Sharma also said the public rally in Jind, where the Prime Minister will address people during the visit, has been planned as an eco-friendly event. He added that preparations have generated considerable enthusiasm among the public as well as party workers.

Referring to the state’s development efforts, Sharma said Haryana has continued to achieve new milestones under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the state.

He said the Prime Minister’s visit reflects the continuation of large-scale infrastructure investment in Haryana. The simultaneous inauguration and foundation-laying of projects related to railways, roads, healthcare and tourism are expected to provide fresh momentum to the state’s development while encouraging industrial growth, trade, investment and employment opportunities.

Among the healthcare projects scheduled for inauguration are Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Medical College in Bhiwani and Maharishi Chyawan Medical College in Narnaul. Sharma said these institutions would strengthen Haryana’s healthcare infrastructure and improve access to modern medical facilities, particularly for residents of the southern parts of the state.

The minister also highlighted the Kurukshetra Elevated Railway Track Project, saying it is expected to offer a permanent solution to the long-standing problem of traffic congestion in the city.

In the tourism and cultural sector, Sharma said the proposed Sikh Museum at Kurukshetra would provide a new identity to the region’s religious, cultural and tourism activities.

Speaking about road infrastructure, he said several major projects are aimed at improving connectivity across Haryana. These include the Haryana section of the Delhi-Katra Expressway, the Ambala-Kala Amb Greenfield Four-Lane Corridor, and the Jind-Gohana National Highway (NH-352A) Greenfield Corridor. According to the minister, these projects will reduce travel time while supporting commercial activities across the state.

He further said the Hansi-Barwala Four-Lane Highway and the Bikaner-Siwani-Sonipat Road Project would improve connectivity between rural and urban areas, creating a stronger transport network that would support industrial expansion and generate employment opportunities.

Sharma said the government’s focus is not limited to announcing development projects but also ensuring that they are completed within fixed timelines so that their benefits reach people without unnecessary delays.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s public rally in Jind, the minister said the event would convey a message of development, public trust and people’s participation.

He added that July 17 would become a memorable day in Haryana’s development journey by bringing renewed momentum, fresh opportunities and new energy for the state’s future.
