New Delhi: The Department of Financial Services has returned more than ₹1,887 crore worth of unclaimed financial assets to citizens within the first two months of the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ campaign, Secretary M. Nagaraju announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a mega camp in New Delhi alongside Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Nagaraju said the initiative has helped individuals reclaim unclaimed bank deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, shares, and mutual fund income.
He also highlighted that a significant amount remains unclaimed in the National Capital. As of August 31, the pending Depositor Education and Awareness Fund balance linked to Delhi stands at ₹3,210.84 crore.
“This clearly shows that a large sum is still out of reach for people in Delhi,” Nagaraju said, stressing the need for wider outreach so families can recover funds rightfully belonging to them.
To assist citizens, the campaign provides multilingual instructional materials, including booklets with FAQs and standard procedures, enabling people to confidently complete the claims process. Campaign videos are also being circulated in various regional languages nationwide.
The program has received strong nationwide participation, with mega district-level camps organized in 272 districts so far. An additional 102 camps are scheduled for tomorrow as authorities work to cover every district in the country within the planned timeline.
Local representatives, senior officials, and parliamentarians are actively supporting the effort and encouraging residents to verify and claim their assets.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the drive reflects the government’s commitment to service delivery by ensuring citizens can digitally reclaim funds that have remained unclaimed. She confirmed Delhi’s full cooperation in extending the campaign across the state.
She urged people to check whether they have unclaimed bank accounts, fixed deposits, shares, policies, or mutual fund holdings and to visit the designated camps for assistance.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary added that the campaign aims to reach every district from October to December, ensuring no one misses out on their accumulated financial entitlements.
