New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday mourned the death of Bollywood icon Dharmendra, calling his passing an “irreparable” loss to the country’s artistic landscape. Gandhi said the veteran actor’s unmatched contribution to Indian cinema over almost seven decades would be remembered with deep respect.
Expressing his condolences on X, the former Congress president described Dharmendra as a “great actor” and wrote, “The news of the demise of the great actor Dharmendra ji is extremely heartbreaking and an irreparable loss for the Indian art world. His unparalleled contribution to cinema over nearly seven decades will always be remembered with respect and love. I offer my heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra ji.”
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal also paid tribute, noting the profound influence the actor had on Indian culture. “The nation has lost a true legend of cinema,” he said. “I join crores of fans in mourning the loss of stalwart actor Dharmendra ji. His performances spanning seven decades left a huge impact on Indian cinema and culture.”
