IAS officer Tina Dabi, currently serving as the District Collector of Barmer, Rajasthan, has drawn widespread attention after her school marksheets went viral online. The renewed interest in her academic record comes as she recently led Barmer district to a major national recognition in water conservation.

Barmer Wins First-Ever JSJB Award

Under Dabi’s leadership, Barmer secured the inaugural Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) Award for its achievements in rainwater harvesting and community participation. President Droupadi Murmu presented the honour at the 6th National Water Awards 2025 ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The award acknowledges extensive work carried out in Barmer — one of India’s driest regions — where thousands of traditional tanks, ponds, stepwells and rooftop harvesting structures were built or restored as part of the “Catch the Rain Where It Falls When It Falls” campaign. The district also received prize money of ₹2 crore for topping its category.

Early Life and Education

Born in Bhopal into a family of government officers, Tina Dabi excelled academically from an early age. She completed her schooling at Jesus and Mary School in Delhi, consistently ranking among the top performers.

According to media reports, she scored 93% in her CBSE Class 12 examination, including a full 100 marks in both Political Science and History. She later studied Political Science at Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, where she was named “Student of the Year.”

UPSC Journey

Dabi cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her first attempt at age 22, securing All India Rank 1 in 2015. She earned 868 marks in the written examination and 195 in the personality test, bringing her total score to 1063.
