Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor’s announcement of her second pregnancy has drawn a wave of congratulations from leading Bollywood celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra and Kareena Kapoor.

The actor shared the news on Thursday through an Instagram post, uploading a series of stylish photos in which she showcased her baby bump with the caption, “Mother.” Within minutes, the comments section filled with messages from friends and colleagues across the industry.

Kareena Kapoor wrote, “Sona and Anand,” adding heart emojis to her message. Priyanka Chopra responded with a simple “Congratulations,” while Parineeti Chopra commented, “Congrats mamacitaaa.” Bhumi Pednekar also joined in, wishing Sonam with a heartfelt “Congratulations.”

For the announcement, Sonam opted for a striking hot-pink wool suit featuring oversized, curved padded shoulders — an outfit inspired by the signature style of Princess Diana.

Sonam married businessman Anand Ahuja in May 2018 after years of dating. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Vayu, in August 2022. Speculation about a second pregnancy had surfaced in October, with reports suggesting she was already in her second trimester.

The 40-year-old actor debuted in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya and has since starred in films such as Delhi 6, Aisha, Raanjhanaa, Khoobsurat, Dolly Ki Doli, and Veere Di Wedding. Her most recent screen appearance was in the 2023 crime thriller Blind, directed by Shome Makhija and co-starring Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey. The film, a remake of a 2011 Korean title, followed a blind police officer tracking a serial killer.

Since the birth of her son, Sonam has stepped back from acting but continues to appear at public events and host gatherings.
