SIROHI: A massive tree plantation drive was organized at the Barlut government school campus in Sirohi district on Saturday under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Initiated following the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the event aimed to actively promote environmental conservation.

Minister of State for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Otaram Dewasi, and Jalore-Sirohi Member of Parliament (MP), Lumbaram Choudhary, led the initiative by planting saplings. Addressing the gathering, Dewasi emphasized that protecting nature remains the fundamental responsibility of every citizen.

He noted that the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign extends beyond merely planting saplings; it represents a serious pledge to secure a clean and safe environment for future generations. Dewasi urged everyone to plant at least one tree in their lifetime and ensure its regular upkeep to make the initiative a success.

A Call for Public Participation

MP Choudhary echoed these sentiments, describing environmental conservation as the most pressing need of the current era. He praised the nationwide campaign as an outstanding example of public participation and ecological responsibility.

Choudhary appealed directly to the youth, students, and the general public to plant maximum trees and protect them. Following the official addresses, attendees planted various species of saplings across the school premises and collectively resolved to nurture them.

Addressing Public Grievances

Later in the day, Minister Dewasi held a public hearing at the local Circuit House to address citizen grievances. He received multiple administrative and departmental complaints from local residents during the session.

Taking immediate action, Dewasi directed the concerned departmental officials to resolve the issues promptly and provide immediate relief to the complainants. The day’s events underscored the administration’s dual focus on ecological sustainability and proactive grassroots governance.
