Jaipur: Jain University swimmer Bhavya Sachdeva added three more gold medals to her name at the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025 on Thursday, pushing her overall haul to seven and bolstering her university’s dominant run in the pool at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium complex.
After winning one individual and one relay gold over the first two days, Sachdeva opened Thursday’s campaign with a victory in the women’s 800m freestyle, clocking 9:37.41. She returned shortly after to triumph in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:13.55. Her final contribution of the day came in the women’s 4x100m medley relay, securing gold for her team.
Jain University grabbed eight of the 11 gold medals awarded in swimming, taking their overall gold count to 20. Meanwhile, Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) remained locked in a close battle for second place in the standings.
At the end of the day’s events, LPU moved ahead to 17 gold medals after winning four in archery, one in shooting, one in judo and three in wrestling. GNDU followed with 15 golds, including a sweep of all three team titles in fencing and additional medals in shooting and judo.
In archery at the Jagatpura Sports Complex, LPU’s Anshika Kumari and Devaang Gupta won the individual recurve events and later guided their teams to gold in the evening team finals. However, both finished runners-up in the mixed team event after a tiebreak defeat against Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya.
LPU’s success continued in shooting, where Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu claimed the 25m rapid fire pistol gold with 29 points, edging Panjab University’s Devansh Vashishtya. In men’s 10m air rifle, Manipal University Rajasthan’s Yash Vardhan earned his university’s first gold of the Games with a final score of 252.7, narrowly ahead of KLEF University’s Maddineni Uma Mahesh.
Badminton semifinals saw the University of Mumbai set up a men’s team final against Chitkara University, while the women’s final will feature SRM University against LPU.
In Bikaner, Thiruvallur University lifter Logeswaran S clinched his maiden KIUG medal — a gold — in the men’s 79kg category, lifting a total of 305kg (135kg snatch and 170kg clean & jerk).
Bharatpur witnessed another round of medal distribution in wrestling, where LPU captured three golds and Guru Kashi University claimed two from the 10 on offer.
