Johdpur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will inaugurate the International Saraswat Brahmin Convention, scheduled to be held on December 20 and 21 at the Marwar International Centre located on the Polytechnic College campus in Jodhpur. Organisers said the event is expected to be one of the largest gatherings of the Saraswat community to date.

Ahead of the convention, chief coordinator Ghanshyam Ojha and reception committee chairman Hastimal Saraswat met the Chief Minister at his residence in Jaipur on Friday. During the meeting, they briefed him on the structure, objectives, and preparations for the upcoming convention.

As part of the interaction, Chief Minister Sharma formally unveiled the official poster of the convention and held discussions on key elements of the programme. He appreciated the initiative and said that such large-scale community gatherings are particularly relevant in the present time. According to organisers, the Chief Minister emphasised the role of such conventions in promoting self-employment, reinforcing family values, and supporting the upliftment of youth and women.

Large-Scale Participation Expected

Society president R.K. Ojha and convention coordinator Kailash Saraswat said the programme will begin on December 20 at 11 a.m. and is expected to attract more than 5,000 delegates. Participants will attend from across the country, covering regions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from the northeastern states to southern India.

In addition to domestic participation, representatives of Saraswat families settled overseas are also expected to attend. Delegates from countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Singapore, and other international locations have confirmed their participation, organisers said.

Focus on Unity and Contemporary Issues

According to the organising committee, the primary objective of the convention is to strengthen unity within the Saraswat community while addressing present-day challenges. The event aims to serve as a platform that connects cultural heritage and spiritual values with modern social, economic, and professional realities.

For the first time, a wide cross-section of the community will share a single मंच (platform). This includes spiritual leaders, cultural scholars, business and industry representatives, intellectuals, and young leaders from the Saraswat community. Organisers said this inclusive approach is intended to encourage dialogue across generations and professional backgrounds.

Programme Structure

The two-day convention will feature a range of activities designed to encourage discussion, reflection, and cultural expression. Planned sessions include thematic discussions and panel interactions focusing on the community’s history, current achievements, and future direction.

Cultural programmes showcasing traditional art and heritage will also be part of the event. In addition, felicitation ceremonies will be organised to recognise individuals who have contributed to social, cultural, and professional fields.

Organisers said the convention has been carefully structured to ensure meaningful engagement among participants, while also providing opportunities for networking and exchange of ideas.

Preparations Underway

Preparations for the convention are currently underway, with organisers coordinating logistics, delegate arrangements, and programme schedules. The Marwar International Centre has been selected as the venue to accommodate the expected turnout and to facilitate the smooth conduct of events over the two days.

With the Chief Minister’s inauguration and the participation of delegates from across India and abroad, the convention is expected to be a significant event for the Saraswat Brahmin community, marking an important moment of collective interaction and dialogue.
