Alwar: The Alwar Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted senior officials from the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, for a tax awareness and stakeholder outreach meeting on Friday. The session, held under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), aimed to bridge communication gaps between industries and the tax administration while improving the ease of doing business in the region.
DGTS officials Sanjay Vyas and Anil Sreedharan led discussions focused on clarifying compliance procedures under India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime and Customs framework. They emphasized that regular engagement between the department and the business community is vital to reducing misunderstandings, fostering trust and improving service delivery.
The officials addressed questions raised by industry members regarding common challenges in dispute resolution, documentation requirements and departmental communication channels. They provided detailed guidance on streamlining processes to prevent delays and advised businesses to make proactive use of digital tools and grievance platforms introduced by CBIC.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the explanation of the revised Citizen’s Charter, which outlines the tax department’s commitments toward timely responsiveness, dispute transparency and improved accountability. DGTS representatives stated that the Charter reinforces the department’s responsibility to assist compliant taxpayers efficiently.
The officials also assured that regular workshops, consultations and outreach programmes will continue to be organized in Alwar and nearby industrial zones. These capacity‑building interactions, they said, are designed to help businesses better understand emerging compliance updates and reduce the burden of procedural errors.
Industry members welcomed the initiative and highlighted that such meetings strengthen mutual cooperation. Representatives noted that with ongoing changes in the indirect tax system, businesses need clearer guidance and quicker support to avoid disruptions in operations. Chamber leaders expressed that continuing collaboration with DGTS will contribute to a smoother tax environment and promote growth for local industries.
Officials added that feedback collected during these interactions will be shared with senior authorities to further enhance taxpayer services and grievance redressal mechanisms. They encouraged participants to convey practical suggestions that could help simplify procedures and reduce compliance‑related hardships.
Business owners in manufacturing and trade sectors appreciated the department’s commitment to maintaining an accessible and solution‑driven approach. They emphasized that effective communication plays a key role in increasing confidence among investors and improving Alwar’s business competitiveness.
With Alwar emerging as a prominent industrial hub in Rajasthan, chamber representatives said such initiatives help ensure that enterprises—whether small, medium or large—have access to timely guidance and updated regulatory knowledge. This, they added, contributes to greater transparency and operational efficiency within the tax ecosystem.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to maintain open communication channels between industry bodies and the DGTS. Participants expressed optimism that continued cooperation would lead to more responsive tax administration and improved ease of compliance for businesses operating in the district.
