Ajmer: The 38th Inter-College Athletic Meet of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) concluded with an energetic closing ceremony at the Dayanand College sports ground, where young athletes celebrated their hard-earned victories.
Ajmer Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana graced the occasion as the chief guest. She presented medals and certificates to students who excelled across various track and field events. College Principal Dr. Lakshmikant also joined the award distribution, congratulating the participants for their commitment and sportsmanship.
Addressing the gathering, SP Rana delivered an inspiring message on the power of youth in shaping the nation. She emphasized that young people play a pivotal role in India’s development and future progress.
“The youth build the nation’s future and determine its direction,” she said, encouraging students to adopt the values of discipline, dedication and consistency — not only in athletics but in every aspect of life.
Rana highlighted how sports instill qualities such as focus, teamwork and resilience, which are essential for personal and professional success. She urged students to keep striving forward even when challenges appear daunting.
The athletic meet saw enthusiastic participation from 550 competitors, representing 50 colleges across the region. Over the course of the event, 26 sports disciplines were contested, showcasing emerging talent in sprinting, jumping, throwing and endurance categories. The vibrant atmosphere reflected the spirit of healthy competition and unity among youth.
In her address, SP Rana also spoke strongly about gender equality and the importance of supporting women in society. She reaffirmed the need to ensure that every girl and woman is able to live with dignity, independence and equal opportunity. She encouraged young athletes to champion inclusivity and respect both on and off the field.
To honor her leadership and motivation for young citizens, organizers presented Rana with a traditional Rajasthani safa and a memorial memento. Applause and cheers filled the venue as she shared lighthearted moments with the athletes and faculty.
Organizers expressed their gratitude to participants, coaches, and college officials who contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament. They noted that such events not only identify sports talent but also promote physical fitness and character-building among students.
With the meet now wrapped up, colleges will look ahead to future competitions — with many athletes motivated to train harder and aim higher after the encouragement received from the state’s senior leadership.
The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to uphold sportsmanship and continue nurturing athletic excellence in the region.
