BHOPAL: Reaffirming the state government’s unwavering support for the agricultural sector, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav transferred a massive ₹1,460.25 crore into the bank accounts of over 10.54 lakh farmers on Sunday.
The financial relief, disbursed digitally via a single click immediately following the Council of Ministers meeting in Jagdishpur, represents the crop insurance claim settlement for the Kharif-2025 season under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Weather Warnings and an Appeal for Timely Insurance
Addressing the agricultural community, Dr. Yadav emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains deeply sensitive to protecting farmers’ interests, particularly in the face of natural calamities and unpredictable weather patterns.
Highlighting potential meteorological challenges, the Chief Minister noted that due to the ongoing El-Niño effect, forecasts do not anticipate a highly favorable monsoon this year. “The state government stands with the farmers in every situation,” Dr. Yadav assured. Given the weather predictions, he strongly urged all farmers to insure their notified crops well before the prescribed deadline. This proactive step, he explained, is crucial to ensuring they receive adequate financial assistance in the event of crop damage or yield loss.
Over ₹30,942 Crore Disbursed Since 2016
Providing a broader perspective on the sustained impact of the PMFBY in the state, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Aidal Singh Kanshana shared historical settlement data. He stated that from the fiscal year 2016-17 up to 2024-25, a staggering ₹30,942.34 crore has been successfully paid out to affected farmers across Madhya Pradesh under the flagship crop insurance scheme.
