Jaipur: Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) celebrated Samvidhan Divas on Tuesday with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, hosting a ceremony filled with messages on constitutional duties, national development and civic responsibility.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended as Chief Guest, with Jaipur MP Manju Sharma and Bagru MLA Kailash Chand Verma joining as Guests of Honour.
Speaking to MUJ’s faculty, students and staff, Birla underscored the responsibility of every citizen to understand, respect and uphold the Constitution—an essential step, he said, toward building a Vikshit Bharat. “Nation First is the thought of our youth. Our Constitution is not just a document — it’s the soul of our nation,” he remarked.
He also revealed that Parliament is working to introduce structured constitutional studies in schools and higher education institutions to strengthen constitutional literacy and civic awareness across the country.
Birla praised MUJ’s state-of-the-art facilities and dynamic academic environment, expressing confidence that the university will soon emerge as a hub of innovation and research capable of addressing global challenges. He administered the Constitutional Oath to all attendees, reinforcing the significance of the occasion.
As part of the event, Birla and other dignitaries inaugurated a newly built gymnasium in MUJ’s hostel complex.
Guest of Honour Manju Sharma stressed the need to balance constitutional rights with duties and moral values, noting that genuine national progress requires strong ethical foundations. MLA Kailash Chand Verma commended MUJ for creating local employment opportunities and contributing meaningfully to community development.
Pro-President Karunakar A. Kotegar welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of celebrating Constitution Day in the presence of national leaders.
In his presidential address, MUJ President Niti Nipun Sharma showcased the university’s achievements and emphasised the impact of its students and alumni in India and abroad. He reaffirmed MUJ’s commitment to excellence, research, innovation and the nurturing of socially responsible citizens.
The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, bringing the day’s celebrations to a dignified close.
